So around here this week....
The rose show is one, although a little worse for wear. In the past couple of days, we've had a whiplash-inducing change in temperature from the mid-60's to the mid 90's for the daily highs. We've also had a sirocco-type wind on the high temperature days that has decimated my poor pansies and has the roses panting.
Now, before I move on to other events of the week, let me just give you a glimpse into the hanging of a dead thing. This was last weekend at the cabin.
Moving forward in the week, we had Elise and the boys here for several days.
We had them out in the garden watching us pick rhubarb, and in the pasture turning on the irrigation water. The horses came over to investigate and got a little too close for comfort. I ended up between the babies and the horses, with them snuffling at at my hair and shoulders. It was a little disconcerting since I wasn't raised with horses. We had a wonderful few days playing with them...the boys, not the horses. They're starting to toddle around and they're almost always happy. It was also awesome to have some time with my girl. We had nightly movie time and there was some kitchen experimenting going on.
Sent to me from the kids and grandkids this week, I got several from Collin. Loved this one of the boys with jet packs of various makes and models.
There were adventures of all kinds going on.
I had a very nostalgic moment here. It reminded me so much of my own boys playing in the pasture on an old, broken down fort-type thing they'd dragged around. There were so many fantastic voyages on that pile of logs.
Here's Collin's first garden harvest....thinned beets and a few green beans.
But the biggest news from his family is the arrival of this cute boy.
Little Samuel Larsen Allan made his arrival on Flag Day. From start to finish, the labor was about 3 hours. Not enough time for my daughter-in-law to get her epidural. She. Is. Woman.
His big brothers are quite fascinated with him. Collin says the question, "Can I tickle his feet?" is asked regularly.
Collin took this series of pictures of little Sam all wrapped up.
Minutes later his little arm had wiggled its way out,
...and his hand was poised for the binky steal.
Sweet boy. We're so grateful for his safe arrival. I'm looking forward to going out to cuddle him and his brothers in about a month.
From Marc's family, the big news is that Levi is pedaling on his own. Marc tells me he's been going around the house singing, "I've Got the Power."
Hazel had some grins to spread around,
And finally from my daughter....she made a few flower arrangements.
Such pretty things.
Gotta love the hanging process
