So around here this week....
Probably the most important thing that happened is my new washer arriving. There was joy and rejoicing and 2 immediate loads of laundry done despite the lateness of the delivery.
As if it heard me whining about it last week, the volunteer sweet pea has suddenly burst forth into bloom.
They are this gorgeous color, but didn't have much of a smell when I cut them, which was a little disappointing.
Sure are pretty, though.
By the time we got back from the cabin, most of our zucchini were torpedo sized. We did get some green chilies, though, and some green beans. I'm still waiting for that first garden tomato sandwich.
The new-to-me variety of sunflower is starting to bloom. I'm not sure this variety sets seeds. They have kind of a fuzzy center, so we'll have to see. Sunflowers are so happy! I have giant mammoth sunflowers planted too, but they are still gaining height.
My husband and I tried to get to the cabin for a long weekend by ourselves. The thought boggles the mind, I know. As you can see here there was a fire up one of the side canyons a little ways from the turn off we take to get there, and they weren't letting anyone through. We had to turn around and come back home which was very sad. I was really looking forward to chilly nights and sleeping with the window open under the quilts.
Sent to me from the kids and grandkids this week, this one came of Frederick and there is a story behind it. Evan found out that two of his laying hens, are actually roosters. Not in the plan at all. So the boys were introduced to the realities of farm life and the smallish, scrawnyish roosters became dinner one night this week.
Evan, Marc's family, and Elisa & the kids picked some peaches this week.
There may have been some tasting along the way.
The reason we had Eric and Elisa's kiddos last weekend was that they took a jaunt to Las Vegas. It was definitely hotter there than it was here, so I can be grateful for tender mercies.
Elisa really loves exotic food, so they tried some interesting places...always masked, of course.
This one came from Collin's family. The sand table made an appearance for the boys.
And apparently they met this guy on a walk.
From Marc's family, Rachelle sent this one of Isaac who is just loving the scriptures this year, and doing pretty well with even with the really big words.
Levi is never without this foam sword these days. It's usually down the back of his shirt, but he recently found this variation.
Marc says it helps when the sword fighting is so intense one's pants might fall down.
From Bryce's family, we got this one of Bryce grilling in his rain gear so he can avoid the sprinklers while he's cooking.
He said it was really good...bacon, ranch and mushrooms. Yeah, fungus is a deal-breaker.
So many peaches!

The sweet pea picture makes me smile. Thank you. And, I am with you on the 'shrooms--just say no.

Not sure why Vegas but I guess it’s not my vacation. Buffalo burgers are awesome
