It's been a while since you've seen these back east boys.
Collin says it's been ugly hot and sticky out where he is, made doubly hard since COVID has made for a summer-long pool closure on the base.
But it doesn't seem to have slowed the boys down any.
This was the picture I got from them on the 4th. I thought it was an interesting juxtaposition between the wall of green leaves behind them, and the still-hanging-around dead last-year leaves on the ground. Just so many trees. And ticks. I guess the tick count after this hike was 8, and he says they didn't even wander through brushy areas. Kind of makes you shiver a little bit, doesn't it?
They did manage a socially distant beach trip.
Collin and John on the sand.
This brings back memories of James playing with these excavating toys on the beach when they lived in LA.
This one I'm going to take partial credit for. I saw a recipe in a food magazine of these shark Rice Krispie treats. Collin's boys are big fans of sharks, so I sent it to them and here they are all made.
Collin's family is getting ready to move again, just 2 hours down the road rather than across the country or across an ocean. Collin will advance to the rank of Major and will be doing some continuing education for a year, getting what's called an LLM degree that he can tack on to that Juris Doctorate. He's ready for a change and while they've appreciated the easy access to lots of historic sites and wonderful museums for the boys, he can't wait to say goodbye to Maryland drivers.
Sharkrispie treats are da bomb
