Time for a little wander around the yard....
Good news...all the "I am woman, hear me roar..." bulbs I planted last fall sprouted and bloomed. And they were beautiful. I'm so glad I braved the cold, and my husband's absence and made it happen. All these bulbs were purchase from Floret Flower Farms in Oregon. The bulbs are enormous, much bigger than anything I've bought online from other sources or gotten here locally. I'm going to link to you the individual varieties I got. This one was the first to bloom and it's Narcissus Dick Wilden.
If you want to see much prettier images of each of these, you really need to take the links and go to the website. They have them in gorgeous bunches there. The bulb sale happens in the fall and it's one of those times when you have to be ready and log in right when it starts because they sell out fast.
The volunteer sweet pea is back again this year and looks about 3 times as big as it did last year. I'm so surprised by this. I thought sweet peas were annuals, yet this is the second year in a row it's come up.
The strawberries are getting blossoms on them. We should have berries in just a few weeks if the birds and/or slugs don't get them first.
The flowering almond put on its annual show. I was a little sad I didn't have my girl here to stand in front of it. We did that almost every year she was growing up.
The apple blossoms have come out in full force.
I took this picture standing against a fence, trying to get all 3 trees in the same shot to show how pretty they looked. Less than successful, but you get the idea.
And look! My new little plum tree has leaves. So far, so good. Everyone pray for its survival, so I can cut down and burn the old tree.
Things are coming right along in the garden, too. I'm going to have to stake the peas soon.
And I'm thinking we'll have lettuce in a couple of weeks.
These are the baby onions, and what you see in the background is the garlic Evan planted last fall.
I got my patio pots planted last weekend. That empty pot will hopefully have chives in it. Nobody had chive starts, so I found some seeds and I hope they grow.
My great big herb pot broke last fall, so I've had to move the herbs into a couple of different pots.
And finally, the lilac hedge is blooming a good 3 weeks sooner than it usually does. We've been so warm and dry here.
I'd give quite a bit for a nice, cool day of steady rain. This week...more garden planting, and I have a few surprises up my sleeve that are going in the garden. Don't panic, Evan. I'm putting them up in the old section.
I like the fluffy tulips!
