We're going to ask ourselves that question several times during this post.
What do you think came in this box? I'll tell you I'm very, very happy about it, and have been waiting a really long time for it.
It's a baby tree! And more than that, it's a RED-FLESHED PLUM TREE!!
My feelings about the plum tree we have, have been well-documented, and last year I was done, finished with the whole thing. So I got online and went searching for a red/purple-fleshed plum tree, and found something called an Elephant Heart Plum. Kind of a gross name, but I have high hopes. My husband and I planted it on a frigid, blustery morning this week, and we're hoping....so hoping...that it survives. Interesting little fact. I'm not a huge plum fan. Really, I'm not. But if I'm going to have a plum tree, and I'm going to make jam from it, it's darn well going to be the kind I want to work with, and if that makes me a plum bigot, so be it. If this works, we'll eventually be cutting down the stupid plum tree that I hate.
And what is this? While I was in the yard that morning, which my numb fingers, I checked on a few things. The rhubarb is just starting to make an appearance. I'm not really a rhubarb fan either, but my husband loves it. The things we do for love.
And these? What are these? These are the starting of the I-Am-Woman-Hear-Me-Roar bulbs I planted last fall.
All 200 of them. They are starting to come up and I'm so excited to see them bloom.
Love rhubarb. We made a good cake this week. https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/special-rhubarb-cake/
