We left the lake house early the next day, and the itinerary took us through Glacier National Park via The Road to the Sun.
I'm going to pause here and bring my pulse level down by looking at this cute little guy, because honestly? I've never been more terrified driving anywhere as I was on this skinny death trap of a road.
Yes, the scenery is stunning. Did I see any of it? Nooooooo. I was too busy clutching the wheel of my truck, hoping not to slide off the side of the mountain while other cars passed me. Seriously, terrifying.
We finally stopped at the top and got out to stretch, bring my blood pressure down, and stop my hands from shaking.
There were plenty of things to do that job.
Deep breaths......aaaaaaahhhhhhh.....there. That's better.
Just amazing things to see.
I turned the wheel over to my sister, who drove down the other side of the mountain. The road isn't nearly as bad going that way. A little drive brought us to the border.
We pulled off at a scenic overlook and had a little lunch,
Then drove into Waterton National Park. I've been here many times in my life, often as a child when we would come north to visit family.
The Canadian Rockies are amazingly rugged and beautiful, and I have many nostalgic memories and feelings about this area of the country.
This is the Prince of Wales Hotel.
The last time we visited here, my daughter was 6, and we got a picture of her and my niece with a couple of mounties in full uniform. We couldn't find any mounties this time around.
This is Cameron Falls, and I have countless pictures of several generations of my family taken in front of this waterfall.
I'm sorry about the quality of the audio here. I wasn't aware how loud the water would be.
So we knew we had to continue the tradition.
Looks fun!
