We'll start near and go far, shall we?
We had the annual cousins Easter egg hunt Saturday morning.
When my daughter and her husband came home for the weekend, she made the comment that they really enjoyed hiding the eggs for the grandkids last year.
Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I turned them loose on that assignment this year, too.
We engineered it so the older kids had a set of colors to look for, and the younger kids had a different set of colors that were more easily found.
We hid about 120 eggs and are still missing 6 or 7 which I imagine will turn up over the course of the summer. Fortunately, they're plastic.
Perhaps you remember that my son-in-law is 6'6". He had to help some of the kids reach some of the eggs he'd hidden.
If you look closely here, you can see a few in the tree branches. We made the older kids problem solve, and when they realized they couldn't jump that high, they resorted to a patio chair.
We had some Easter dinner prep going on all weekend as well. It was nice to have my daughter in the kitchen with me.
Down the road a ways, Edward tackled the lawn mowing before it needed baling.
He and his siblings tackled some egg dying.
There was a "green hill far away...."
....and a couple of Harry Potters and a Charlie Brown.
This was their whole collection. The swirly ones on the left were done by their mama with nail polish. We're not sure if they're still food safe.
Meanwhile, across the country, there was a very large egg hunt on the base where Collin is assigned.
He tells me there were 115,000 eggs, and somewhere between 6 and 7 thousand people there to participate. I'm glad I didn't have to hide those.
Here's James and David dressed up for Easter Sunday. As you can see, the Great Viral Rash episode has totally resolved.
Awwww.....
And finally, Baby John's Easter outfit.
Eric said ants will crawl in the hole of those plastic eggs and eat the chocolate. Crazy
