We recently made our first foray in to the cabin this year with the truck. There are plusses and minuses to this. It's so much easier to get in and out when you don't have to repack everything onto a snowmobile or a sled or a rhino. That said, with the better weather, there are a lot more people on the road.
There was still a little snow around, but it pales in comparison to what was there the last time we were in.
We saw a critter on the mountain next to the cabin. I know you can't tell, but it's what Isaac called a "noose."
Ollie was glad to be back in the mountains and in this instance, away from Gus snapping at his ears and his neck.
They did have some fun times together running around the deck.
Evan's family was with us, as were Bryce, my daughter and her husband. Early mornings were for doing some reading until Gramma Honey got breakfast on the table.
We went on a wander in the hills while we were there. My husband and I took a rhino and Evan followed with everyone else in the old truck. The road conditions were a little interesting so progress was kind of slow.
We found this really great old stump that was perfect for little boys to pretend they were King of the Hill, or King of the Tree Stump.
My girl thought she'd give it a try.
Roger thought it was great.
He also wanted to show us how he mastered the art of breaking a stick over his knee. 4 is such a great age.
This is what the guys were looking for. These are fresh bear scratches on this tree. My husband says they do this to mark their territory.
Same thing here but these are older.
Found a few little mushrooms while we were walking.
We were making our way up the bottom of a canyon. It wasn't a bad walk, but you can see that winter is still wanting to hang on in the shady spots.
My girl and her guy. It was nice to see their faces for a couple of days. They're back at school doing a spring term.
The shady hillside of the canyon. I was glad we weren't trying hike up this hill.
On the way back my husband pointed out this big woodpecker hole to Roger.
As you can see, it was a little adventurous getting there and back. This stream was probably 15 inches deep, give or take.
Back at the cabin, Quincy was trying to get a fairly non-interested Gus to join in the fun.
I really like the log chair at the cabin!
