The spring blooms are in full force here. I took a wander around the yard a few days ago just to enjoy them.
My volunteer iris under the gas tanks came back again this year.
I'm thinking they're well and truly established now and I look forward to seeing them every year.
The strawberries are coming right along. There may or may not have been another couple of strawberry plants in that stuff I brought home from the garden center.
They are quite happy in the front of this partially shady spot in my yard.
The columbine are going great guns. I love columbine, but the stuff spreads like weeds. I have to pull it out of other areas of my yard so it doesn't take over. That said, I've let it have free range where it's started a patch on the complete other side of the house from where this main plant is located.
We planted this pink lilac in the corner of our yard and for several years it just sat there all twiggy looking and never did much. We thought about pulling it out, but the last couple of years it has decided that if we're going to threaten it, then it will bloom some.
The hostas have come up and are looking good. It's hard to tell the scale from a picture, but the leaves on the larger plants are as big as dinner plates.
We have one little rogue baby one that is coming up outside the bed that I think we'll have to transplant.
The vine on the trellis by the front door is also very happy this year. I should have given it a haircut while it was still dormant, but I didn't get to it. Now I'm going to have to put on my pith helmet and take a machete to it.
My roses are getting ready for their initial big bloom and that will be a happy time for me. I can get back to cutting bouquets for the house.
I like the pink lilac!
