Happy Easter! I hope your day is wonderful and spring-like. Ours is supposed to be, and we've had a few daffodils popping out this week. It's been a really wild week, with some pretty extreme ups and downs. More on that coming. In the meantime, we have family around this weekend for my daughter's birthday, the Easter holiday and LDS General Conference, also known in our house as TV church.
This time of year I see this particular recipe all over Pinterest and on blogs I follow. When Marc's family was here last week, I decided to make them for our family home evening treat, after a little lesson about Easter. The idea is that you put a large marshmallow wrapped inside crescent roll dough and as it bakes up, the marshmallow melts and disappears, symbolizing the empty tomb on Easter morning. The recipe I used is one I found here. It was a fun activity for the boys to watch and help with, a great object lesson, and they tasted good, too.
Resurrection Rolls
- 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
- 8 large marshmallows
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup sugar
Preheat oven to 375°. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray. You can also use a Silpat mat. (I used parchment paper and didn't need to spray it.)
Separate crescent rolls into triangles. Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Dip each marshmallow into butter and then cinnamon sugar mixture. Place marshmallow onto wide end of the crescent triangle and roll up to wrap up marshmallow completely.
Place onto baking sheet and bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
I love the symbolism of the empty tomb....the knowledge that because of Him, there is an Easter.
Our kids love eating empty tombs
