So around here this week, and maybe a little longer than just this week, since I'm kind of playing catch up here. In fact, I don't think I've ever put more pictures in a blog post, so I think we're in record territory here.
The weather has been...changeable, but that's typical of Idaho in the spring.
And just in case you don't believe me about my love of all things cooler in temperature, I took this picture of the thermostat in my bedroom. We live in a house that has been tweaked a time or ten, and it has 2 furnaces. The one that works for the side of the house that has my bedroom has been off for about a month now, and my bedroom window is often cracked open even when it's decidedly chilly.
The daffodils are making an appearance.
My husband had his birthday. It was in the middle of the week, when everyone had other things going, so the family celebration didn't happen until later, but they did check in via phone calls and Face Time.
When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, the only thing he could think of was The Cake.
My daughter and her husband came to visit for the weekend because it was her birthday, too.
She was all over the puppy cuteness.
And posed for pictures so she could document it on social media.
It was LDS general conference weekend as well. So much good stuff to listen to, and it made my heart happy to know that wherever they were, my kids were tuned in. Collin sent me this picture of his boys ready to listen. Then I got a text saying this lasted about 5 minutes. Ah....such is the life with littles at home.
We had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday afternoon and I put the big kids in charge of filling the eggs and hiding them.
Jake's height made some of the egg spots a little problematic so he had to give some assistance a time or two.
Ephraim didn't really care about the eggs too much. My daughter was all over the baby cuteness, too.
Eric's wife, Elisa, took some pictures of the hunt.
The kids had a great time running around.
Quincy didn't really care too much about the hunt itself, but once he discovered there was candy inside the eggs, it was a whole different story.
Group shot of all the hunters.
After the hunt, we moved into the birthday festivities.
My daughter said she's been craving berry pie for a while now, so that's what was on the menu for the birthday party. It was actually my first time attempting a lattice top and that worked pretty well, but the filling didn't thicken up like it was supposed to, so there was lots of berry sauce to go with the ice cream.
Moving into Easter Sunday, the picture taking got a little sporadic as I was trying to get dinner on the table in between conference sessions. I did cut some of the daffodils from the yard.
I've tried a new recipe for dinner rolls. I thought nothing would ever replace the Lion House roll recipe that I've used for years, but this just might. I made these for last Christmas and now Easter and they've gotten very good reviews from the family.
We gathered for pictures before everyone scattered to their own homes. Here are all the in-town grandkids.
And all of us together. Jake took this picture, and he and Elise traded spots so he could be in some as well. By this time the kids were pretty well done with trying to smile and look at the camera.
Sent to me from the kids and grandkids this week...Collin's family sent me this Easter family picture.
And then I got this one which made me laugh. Collin's comment was, "I guess we didn't get Easter picked up fast enough..."
I also got this one from Marc. They did a little traveling this week, and ended up at a Cabela's store. It's almost as good as Disneyland for the Allan males. If you only knew how true that statement is....
Conference WAS so good.
