So around here this week.....
We had a couple of days like this. Love this. Love, love, love, love, LOVE this! I want to live in this weather all year round.
The ash trees in my neighbor's pasture are always the first to start turning the first part of September. Fall is on the way!!!! Picture me doing my VERY happy dance in the driveway.
There was this. These particular bottles will be making their way out to Florida for a birthday next month.
I also picked some beets from the garden. I know there are lots of people who don't understand or appreciate beets, but except for my daughter who gags on them, we are fans. This particular variety of beets is one of the fancy ones Evan wanted to try. They are called Cylinder beets, for obvious reasons.
I turned them into these....pickled beets. I like them on salads, haven't canned any for years, and decided to try them out again.
My husband and eldest son left this week for a play date in the Frozen Northland. My son says he's connecting with his Canadian roots. Riiiight. When I was going around the house, picking up after the whirlwind of packing and preparation, I found the scale in the front hall. Why, you ask? I think they were weighing luggage. This usually lives in the garage to weigh coolers of exotic meat traveling back with faraway kids.
This week's bouquet of roses. They are so happy in the cooler weather.
The latest red and white block from hell.
Last week's Project Life pages. That bottom right picture was dinner one night...a Croque Madame sandwich with leftover pork roast, because we are just that fancy here.
....and the other page.
Sent to me from the kids and grands this week, it was pretty slim pickings. Collin's family went to Sea World one day.
And I totally love this picture that my DIL sent of Collin and James at the beach. I do have some pictures of several Honey Days this week with Evan's boys, but that's getting its own post at some point.
My daughter and Bryce are back in school now and it's hard to get back in the school mindset. Everyone is feeling the pinch of studying again, but Bryce is really enjoying the break he gets with Men's Chorus. I think it might be sanity saving for him this semester....either that or adding to the stress with the number of concert and performance commitments. We'll see.
Cooler weather is what we are enjoying but it is in cool Colorado!
The pickled beets look so good!
