Our 4th of July celebration was fairly atypical this year. Have I mentioned that it's wedding week? Or maybe I should put it like this....it's WEDDING WEEK. (Is that kind of like Shark Week?)
We started out with stringing some lights over the patio. The light thing is a pretty big deal to my daughter so my husband, Bryce and a friend spent some significant time trying to make it a reality for her.
Up until the day after the 4th, this was the only patriotic thing I had set out.
Well, that and......this. I did pull some of the other stuff out and it will sit for a couple of week to show that we can get into the holiday spirit even if it's a little posthumously.
I asked my kids to send me some red, white and blue pictures. Here's Collin and James looking pretty festive.
I got a grouping of photos from Isaac.
He's a pretty fun kiddo.
But I think this might be my favorite. My DIL sent it with the caption, "Are we done yet, Mom?"
Isaac had this for dessert at his house.
Meanwhile, back at our house, there was some pea-picking and then we shelled them while we watched "Midway." It still make me mad that Charlton Heston dies in the end. Oh....wait.....is that a spoiler?
Even Roger helped with the shelling. Frederick mostly ate the ones he shelled, though. :)
There was some good eats.
And homemade ice cream for dessert.
And this from my daughter and the groom-to-be. Festive.
Nothing better than fresh peas!
