While my husband was out chasing turkeys and cuddling the grandkids in the midwest, I spent a large chunk of time planting the overload of flowers I purchased last week. I came home with 3 1/2 flats of flowers and half a flat of tomatoes and peppers that I still need to get into the garden. I always have this problem when I go to the nursery. Everything looks so pretty, and I always buy too much.
I decided to go with the patriotic theme again this year, since my girl is still serving the stateside mission. The stripe-y petunias make me smile.
I am also trying the nod to my Canadian heritage again this year, hoping against hope that it won't be the epic fail it was last year.
I planted a whole pot of just herbs this year. We'll see how well they do all crammed in there together.
I'm including these last pictures for my slave boys, who pulled and pulled on the bishop's weed that was in this planter. It never quite disappeared, even thought I've been diligently spraying it with Round Up for the past 3 years. There are still little sprouts coming out. That said, I ran out of pots for flowers and ended up having to plant some in here. I want my boys to be suitably impressed with my planting efforts. Dug the holes for the gallon Bleeding Heart pots myself. I'm expecting "oooooooo's" and "aaaaahhhhhhh's."
I even planted a couple of Hollyhocks back right next to the sprinkler that I found out 10 minutes later doesn't work at all. Hand watering until I can get Sprinkler Guy to come take care of that, and the sprinkler Old Faithful geyser I also discovered while planting.
lovely, mama! can't wait to see em all filling up their space with beautiful blooms!
