Around here this week, my husband has been in the midwest hunting turkeys with his dad and his brother. I would show you pictures of dead things, but I think some would find it offensive, so I'll just keep those lovely pictures my husband has texted to me, to myself. A couple of my boys also joined him later in the week, which they were all excited about. I have evidence that he actually spent time with James and Isaac because he sent me nanny-boo pictures.
In the meantime, my assignment was to keep the garden, the horses, and the dogs all alive and chauffeur Bryce to school and back.
Yes, the horses are back from their winter out at the ponds, and my husband will be glad to know that I managed to do all my assigned jobs. Really sad about Cleo, though. On the up-side Irene has graduated from the hospital to a care center for continued rehab. I saw her a couple of times this week and she is in good spirits.
Things are really greening up here. The hostas are starting to unfurl. There is also progress in the garden. The first planting of lettuce and peas are up about 2" tall.
The layout this week has pictures from 2010 when Bryce was a senior and in the All-State choir.
Christmas was also in the air here, as I worked on a few Christmas cards. Wanting to get these done and behind me early. I will be having company staying with me in October and November which will be pretty fun, I'm thinking. Marc has a couple of clinical rotations out here so he and his little family will be staying with us. The designs for these come from Kristina Werner's holiday card series from last year, specifically days 16, 17 & 18. This particular card was a total lift, and that white thing to the left of the card is the envelope I've stamped to coordinate with it.
This one is only fairly close in that she had a snowman on a dark background on the front of hers. On her card, the snowman is a much more detailed stamp and is Copic colored. I do not play all that well with Copics, so I just used stamps with different colored inks. It's hard to tell, but there's ink blending on the background.
This was my favorite for the week. I did actually use Copics on this one. Again, hers had a Copic colored snowman, but I chose something I already had that didn't need hardly any coloring. If you squint and look really closely, there's some blueish shadowing on the tree and an attempt at shading on the trunk. I copied the colors she used for the background, which I wasn't sure I was going to like, but found that I really did once I was finished. It's a 4-bar card, which means it's a smaller size...3 1/5 x 5. The snowflakes hang off the edge, but still fit in a regular envelope.
On the kid/grandkid front there is lots to show this week.
My son Eric's family participated in a lip-synch event in their ward last weekend, singing "Final Countdown" by a band called Europe. When Eric sent me this picture, he included the additional information that they were a big-hair band in the 80's. I was glad he did, because I had no clue, although once I googled the song, I was feeling a little bit better about my pop-culture knowledge because I was at least familiar with the tune. I tried to correct the eyes with Photoshop's red-eye feature, but apparently that only works on red-eye, not scary white eyes.
Emmett has teeth!
Isaac's family drove over from their house to see Grandpa at Collin's house when he was there for a few hours on Sunday.
These are the aforementioned nanny-boo pictures. Dead things on display is apparently contagious.
Isaac didn't nap on the way over, and that resulted in him falling asleep during dinner.
My DIL sent me these additional pictures of Isaac's activities this week. They found a park that had a bouncy ladybug in it that he loves.
He also loves pasta. Meanwhile, James is mobile and has his own variation on the army crawl, although I'm not sure whether my Air Force son approves of that label. Apparently, electronics are a big incentive to get video of his newfound mobility. He's had a bit of a cold this week and hasn't been very nice to his parents on occasion.
It's almost The Worm!
