When we got PB home, his one request was that we head to the cabin as quickly as possible. We did our best to accomplish that, driving him straight up there that night.
Long night, but it was great to wake up in the woods.
For some reason, we have had an absolute infestation of yellow jackets this year. It wasn't really apparent until the last couple of trips we've taken into the cabin. These aren't the hornet/wasp kind, but the buzzy little yellow jackets that hover over your picnic meals outside sometimes. Let me show you what I mean.
We brought up more wasp traps to hang around the cabin and hopefully diminish the population some. We hung them out in the trees and you really can't see it here, but there are just a ton of the little things hovering around it.
The same trap 2 days later. Can you see what I mean? Creepy, huh? And there were half a dozen traps just like it all around the perimeter of the cabin. You could sit outside the cabin on the deck and you could just hear a drone in the air from them. It felt just a little like some sci-fi horror movie. The boys were thinking we could make one called "Swarm," but I think that's already been done. I'm not sure if it's just the hot, dry weather we've had all summer, or the fires, or what, but it's definitely been the Year of the Yellow Jacket.
That is very, very creepy!

That is creepy! I'm glad the traps work - at least to trap some of them!
