Whenever we embark on a big house project like this, it never fails that it evolves into something much more than we first envisioned. My builder guy came to me last week asking if I'd noticed the new skylight in DH's den. Keep in mind that DH has been in abstentia, leaping around in the hills, leaving me to deal with whatever comes up on my own.
It seems that in the process of re-roofing, one of the worker men had put his foot right through the sheetrock of the den ceiling. As in, there was a hole that I could see daylight through, and there were bits of ceiling all over Grandma Gwen's 150 year old piano. We have had trouble off and on with the skylight in there leaking and that apparently caused the wood under the old shingles to become very brittle. We're taking out that skylight and it does make a difference in the amount of light in there. This doesn't bother DH since he's rarely in there in the daylight anyway and he thinks it will be better for his dead things...won't fade the fur and such.
So out it comes. This is Nick. He's taking off the skylight.
So right now DH's den looks like this....except much darker now that they've boarded up the place where the skylight used to be. He's not thrilled about the bits and pieces of roof on his critters, but he'll have to be patient until they can patch the sheetrock and then he can vacuum and dust off the dead things, and I can do the same to Grandma's piano.
Oh My! Now I am glad we don't have skylights!

What a crazy thing to happen! On the bright aside, there will be no more fur fadage.
