For several years now, I have driven a Suburban. It made sense for me because I live in semi-rural land and I had 6 kids to haul around. But several of those kidlets have left the nest and while I still live in semi-rural land, I was looking to down-size a little. I really like having something that has 4 wheel drive, for obvious weather reasons that I've documented recently.
Well, leave it to my DH to throw a wrench into my carefully laid plans. Since we have built the cabin, and since the only way we can get there after December 1st is via snowmobile, he has become all about the towing capacity. He wanted to get a truck that could pull snowmobiles to the trailhead, and since at the time, he was driving a fairly new smaller truck, he reasoned that he would just pass that one on to me, so he could upgrade his towing capacity.
Now, I'm not sure if it's my So. Cal upbringing or what exactly, but for some reason, I balked at driving a truck. It just didn't seem like......me. And let me tell you, my DD was fit to be tied. I just had visions of "ranch wife" running around in my head....big belt buckles, feed store runs, driving for harvest. Oh wait, we don't grow crops. Anyway, there's just something about driving a truck.
But DH persisted. I'm now driving a truck. And to be honest, he tried to make it as palatable as possible for me. One of my big concerns was the groceries rolling all over in the back. He put a shell on the back and installed a basket system to make things easier. So now I'm driving a *gulp* truck. Pass me those Wranglers, will ya?
