I know I'm dating myself here when I say that I was thinking about when DH and I were first married. There were no VCR's, let alone DVD players. Home computers were just starting to show up here and there. No video cameras, no digital cameras...it was film all the way. Microwaves were just starting to make an appearance and were as big as most regular-sized TV sets. We drove cars that only had AM/FM radios and a cassette deck if we were lucky. There were no cell phones, forget about smart phones....and speaking of phones, when we talked to our family, we did it long distance, attached to a phone with a cord. If you had a push-button instead of a rotary dial model, you were really something.
I thought about this last Sunday afternoon. What was I doing last Sunday afternoon?
I was talking to this boy and his family over the computer, in real time and then took turns with several of my other kids and grandbabies. We talked about why he had chocolate sauce on his sweater from church, what he was playing with at home, and what he did that week. It's a lot different than when my kids were little and only got to talk on the telephone (with that cord!) to their grandparents when we were away for extended schooling. Of course I like this much better, but my how times have changed.

Yes, it's interesting to think about what even our kids will never experience in this new and modern age!

A lot has changed in a short period of time. I LOVE technology and it would be really hard on me if I had to ever give up my Ipad. Sad, isn't it?

I was just thinking about that all too. How now we have basically a computer on our phones, and when I was little we didn't have computers. Makes me wonder what will be so different when my kids are my age.

that is amazing - makes you wonder what it will be like when they are 20!

I am so old I remember cars with no AC or power steering. our first TV was black and white and more snow than picture.
I would certainly miss all the things and communications we have now.
